Black and white photographs for the series U Vltavy/Along the Vltava were taken from 2007 to the present. The exhibition presents a selection of more than one hundred photographs taken while cycling home from work or during frequent walks along the river. Some of them originated spontaneously, others I had in mind for years. At first I intended to make twelve photos for a calendar but eventually I made a larger series. During childhood my parents helped me develop a positive attitude towards nature. We used to go every year to the mountains or seashore, I spent holidays with my grandparents in a village, and with friends we often went on outings. After moving to Prague I stopped doing sports and photography has become for me another way of realizing myself creatively and has partially replaced my earlier love of drawing. As a boy I took delight in drawing not only Indians but also fish, birds and butterflies. Ever since childhood I have gone fishing and loved walking by the riverside, and so in the bustle of the big city I have found a patch of nature right along the river Vltava.
